About the unit
The Quality Assurance Unit at Al-Matariya College of Engineering works to consolidate the application of the quality assurance system in all departments and units of the college in accordance with the standards of accreditation bodies to become daily practices in all operations of the unit to ensure the quality of the services provided to students and graduates, and the services provided to all departments of the college and the rest of its partners inside and outside the college to achieve their satisfaction with the services provided to them.
Establishment :
The Quality Assurance Unit at the Faculty of Engineering in Matariya was established by a decision of the Helwan University Council in No. 333 dated 25/7/2007, and the unit has an approved organizational structure with organizational subordination to it, and the Quality Assurance Unit in the organizational structure of the college follows the Dean directly (Figure 1), and it was formed to help it achieve its goals and includes representatives from the scientific departments of the college and some categories of the external community, and the board of directors of the unit meets periodically, and the unit keeps minutes of its meetings, and decisions emanating from those meetings are approved by the College Council, and the committees formed by the unit board prepare reports to monitor the work of the college, and the unit's board of directors are approved

Mission of the unit:
Activating the role of the various units in following up the educational process and evaluating performance.
Ensuring the implementation of corrective measures and improvement plans.
Activating the periodic follow-up system to implement development plans and feedback.

Unit objectives
-Working to achieve the college's mission and strategic objectives.
-Developing executive plans for the activities of the unit, reviewing them periodically and ensuring the extent of their realization on the ground.
-Preparing and designing evaluation models in all their forms, analyzing them and extracting results and indicators.
-Preparing proposals for improvement and development plans at the college.
-Follow up the implementation of the executive plan of the strategic plan.
-Follow up the descriptions and reports of programs and courses, as well as follow up the performance of those programs.
-Holding special awareness seminars to spread the culture of quality to all parties of the college.
Preparing annual reports and self-study of the college.
-Spreading awareness of the necessities of protecting intellectual property and achieving credibility.
-Follow up the development and improvement of the college infrastructure.


Unity Board of Directors
The unit's board of directors:

- Representatives from the heads of scientific departments (maximum 3 in rotation).

- The Dean of the College can invite whoever he deems appropriate to attend the board of directors of the unit.
-Approve the formation of the unit's technical committees.
-Appointing the unit's director and its executive team.
-Adopting important decisions related to the unit's activities.
-Developing, reviewing, and approving policies for the college's activities.
-Recommending penalties for violators of the executive team and employees of the unit and approving budgets
-Developing plans and methods of comprehensive development in the college.
-Follow up the development plan at the college.
Issuing decisions on the obstacles facing the work of the unit, sub-committees and committees emanating from the scientific departments.
-Following up the student activity in the college.
-Following up the administrative development in line with the application of the quality system.
-Reviewing the mechanisms for implementing the college's mission and strategic goals.
The director of the unit performs his multifaceted functions within the framework of the decisions of the unit's board of directors, the college council and the Quality Assurance Center, which includes the following:
-Forming the administrative and organizational structure of the unit and selecting the members of the executive team of the unit from faculty members, assistants, administrators and students in the college with experience in the field of quality assurance and development and defining the job tasks of all members of the unit.
-Meeting periodically with the members of the unit from the executive team and the technical committees in the unit (faculty + administrators).
-Technical and administrative supervision of the staff of the Quality Assurance Unit.
-Follow up the performance of work in the unit and take the necessary measures for its regularity and discipline, with mechanisms for internal and external evaluation.
-Meeting periodically with the quality assurance coordinators from the faculty members who represent the college departments in the quality assurance unit.
-Following up the preparation and completion of the procedures for reviewing periodic reports, documents and accreditation files in the practical departments of the college and in the Quality Assurance Unit.
-Supervising the provision of the required technical support to the members of the scientific and administrative departments of the college in the various stages of the development process and the application of the internal quality system and following up the continuity in improving performance in accordance with the agreed standards.
-Attend the Faculty Council meeting sessions to present the activities and achievements of the unit and recommendations for corrective actions to be taken to ensure the achievement of the required development and improvement to achieve the objectives of the college.
-Participate in conferences, seminars, workshops and training courses in the field of development and quality assurance.
-Following up the work to be implemented according to the agreed time frame and the unit's work plan, such as annual reports, application of questionnaires, performance evaluation reports, and follow-up reports of what has been implemented from the plans.
-Good communication with the Quality Assurance Center at the university, attending the periodic meetings of the center and carrying out the tasks assigned to him by the center in his college.
Unit tasks
1- Developing the college's strategic plan through the following tasks and responsibilities
-Studying the internal and external environmental factors of the college and conducting an environmental analysis (SWOT)
-Identify gaps and implementation priorities and develop an implementation plan for the strategic plan.
-Formulating the vision, mission, and final goals of the college and continuously updating them.
-Publish the vision, mission, and final goals.
2- Developing a system and mechanism to evaluate and analyze performance through the following tasks and responsibilities:
-Questionnaires to evaluate the performance of academic and administrative leaders, faculty members and their assistants, and college employees.
-Questionnaires to evaluate the educational process.
-Job satisfaction questionnaires for faculty members and their assistants
-Satisfaction questionnaires about the services provided by the college to the surrounding environment
-Satisfaction questionnaires on the level of performance of graduates through stakeholders
-Analyzing performance evaluation forms and providing feedback.
-A fair reward system that ensures that everyone participates in the elements of the annual self-evaluation.
3- Forming working teams for self-assessment and continuous improvement through the following tasks and responsibilities:
-Internal Audit Committee at the unit.
-The Scientific Programs Coordinators Committee.
-Workshops. Training courses. Applied research projects. Seminars. Conferences.
4- Raising awareness and training in the field of quality assurance through the following tasks and responsibilities:
Spreading the culture of quality among the college staff (faculty members, their assistants, students and administrators).
Holding training courses, workshops and seminars in the field of quality.
Preparing trainers in the field of quality management by attending courses organized by the National Authority for Quality Assurance and Accreditation.
Holding training courses for faculty members to prepare the description of academic programs and courses, writing reports for courses and programs, as well as measurement, evaluation and assessment.
5- Technical support for departments to spread the idea of quality through the following tasks and responsibilities:
Committee of the unit coordinators in the departments and administrations.
Preparing the description and report of academic programs and courses and preparing self-assessment reports
Technical Support Committee in the unit.
6- Coordination between all scientific and administrative departments through the following tasks and responsibilities:
Embedding the concept of teamwork within the college.
Annual self-evaluation of the performance of college activities: Achieving the mission - Structure and methods of management - Faculty members - Academic standards and educational programs - Quality of teaching and learning opportunities - Research - Community participation - Quality management
Expanding the use of electronic systems and the Internet.
7- Activating the principle of accountability and accountability through the following tasks and responsibilities:
Follow up the performance of individuals.
Verifying complaints.
Activating the department's reward and punishment policy.
8- Continuous work to assist the college in continuing to obtain accreditation from the National Commission for Quality Assurance and Accreditation through the following tasks and responsibilities:
Achieving the standards of the National Commission for Education Quality Assurance and Accreditation.
Implementing the executive plan of the college's strategic plan.
9- Establishing a system that ensures the continuity of the unit's work through the following tasks and responsibilities:
Developing an effective and transparent reward system that ensures everyone's participation in the work of the unit.
Providing services with a return to the college through : Consulting, Training and Marketing Center - Consumer Protection.
