The Rehydro Team from the Faculty of Engineering at Matariya, Helwan University, achieved a prestigious international accomplishment in the field of renewable energy and green technology. The team won second place and the silver medal in the MTE2025: IIA International Innovation Award in the Green Energy and Technology category, held in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. The competition saw the participation of 438 projects from around the world.
This distinguished participation came under the patronage and support of Dr. Sayed Qandil, President of Helwan University, Dr. Hossam Refaei, Vice President for Education and Student Affairs, and Dr. Amr Abdel Hadi, Dean of the Faculty of Engineering at Matariya University.
The team, led by Dr. Mohamed Gamal Hassan, presented an innovative project on "Generating Electricity from Green Hydrogen Produced from Desalinated Seawater." The team also won the International Development Medal from the SARAWAK organization, which specializes in international research and development.
For his part, Dr. Sayed Kandil, President of Helwan University, emphasized that this achievement reflects the university's outstanding level of scientific research and its students' ability to compete globally. He added, "We are proud of our students' achievements and their commitment to providing innovative solutions to global energy problems."
Dr. Amr Abdel Hadi, Dean of the Faculty of Engineering at Matariya University, praised the team's efforts, saying, "This achievement is the fruit of the continuous effort and tireless work of students and faculty members. Such innovative projects open new horizons in the field of renewable energy and confirm the ability of our youth to compete in international forums."
The winning team included elite students from the Faculty of Engineering at Matariya University: Mohamed Ashraf Ahmed Desouky, Mohamed Nabil Ghouitat, Moamen Mustafa Kamal, Muhand Walid El-Shahat, and Mohamed Ashraf Abdel Moneim. These students demonstrated their ability to provide innovative solutions in the field of sustainable energy, which bodes well for the future of scientific research in Egypt.
